Shelly of Tampa, Florida asks:
I have an interview at the corporate offices at prestigious fashion company. My style is a little wild, big hair, etc. Should I go to my interview looking trendy and wild or should I tame my style?

Davina:
Shelly. I am all for having a unique look that is all your own. I especially like it when someone has a style that is fun and high spirited. But when you are entering the corporate arena, you need to tone your style down a bit to fit the environment. Unless you are working at the MAC cosmetic counter or some other trendy company that thrives on unique styling, it is critical to maintain a professional image.

Even though you may be soon working in the fashion industry, most companies want people who can also appeal to non-fashion types. But you don't have to lose your style completely. Opt for a nice blouse and slacks and leave the big bulky party accessories and wild hair styles for the night life.
